Agreement for the Pension Funds

Dutch pension funds, the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), trade unions and the Dutch government have signed an Responsible Business Conduct Agreement on responsible investment by Pension Funds that ended 31 December 2022. This agreement has helped pension funds to gain a clearer picture of the international investment chain and thus prevent or tackle issues such as human rights violations and environmental damage.

Reasons for an agreement

With this agreement, Dutch pension funds, together with non-governmental organisations (NGOs), trade unions and the Dutch government, have concluded a wide-ranging and ambitious accord committed to taking action on issues involving human rights and the environment.

Implementing the agreement

Pension funds are expected to make a sound assessment of risks and to adjust their policies and practices where necessary in the light of these risks. In the first year of the agreement, the parties will develop a toolkit that can help pension funds in doing this.
